about
King’s Hollow American Bulldogs is located in the Bluegrass Region of Kentucky. We are located approximately 25 miles South of Lexington, Kentucky. Our farm consists of 35 rolling acres and includes pastures, woods, and a couple of ponds. All of these features are much appreciated by our American Bulldogs as they tend to be playful and energetic creatures. Our actual Kennel Building is nearly complete and will include spacious individual “rooms” which will have heating/cooling as appropriate. Each individual room will have access to an outdoor run as well. We think our American Bulldogs deserve the best.
King’s Hollow is a small family farm/kennel. We currently own five American Bulldogs. Three of these actually live in the house with us. These include our big boy Stomper, and our lovely girls Scout and Faith. We have another female Rayhab, who lives with our oldest daughter. The remaining female Gracie, lives with our youngest daughter and her family. All of our dogs are valued family members. We readily admit that they are a bit spoiled.
We at King’s Hollow have always had a special affection for dogs. Over the 30 year history of our family we have had German Shepherds, Dobermans, Rotweilers, Great Danes, and the occasional dog of unknown origin (usually rescued from a rural roadside). We have loved and enjoyed all of our dogs. We hadn’t been blessed with the unique experience of having an American Bulldog as a family member until 1989. We drove to Indiana and purchased a gorgeous American Bulldog puppy that we named Max.
Max exceeded all our expectations for a family dog. He bonded with us immediately. He was appropriately social to other people and animals. He accepted the other creatures (horses, cats, goats, etc.) on our small farm. He was athletic, intelligent and learned quickly. He was naturally protective. We never worried about our children traveling about on our farm or neighboring farms as long as Max was with them. He was our constant companion and he participated in many hikes, backpacking and camping trips. We still miss him.
Since Max, we have had several other American Bulldogs, and although each has his/her own distinctive personality. They have all formed a strong bond with our family. They have all been intelligent and protective companions. After doing additional research into the breed, we decided a couple of years ago to begin breeding 100 % Johnson American Bulldogs. We truly believe they are the ultimate family dog.
We at King’s Hollow are dedicated to maintaining the integrity of the original Johnson line of American Bulldogs. We will breed our dogs with the intent to preserve and improve the health, temperament, and athleticism of the Johnson American Bulldog breed.
